Thanks to USERVOICE, we have heard you. We are still testing but hope to roll out a new status update system. We decided not to go with a traditional status bar. Instead, we’ve decided to show you each stage of the process: megabytes left to upload, getting ready, lining up, making it louder, and finalizing. You will then be delivered your song. Status bars are great for photos, but for audio digital signal processing, they are less relevant. Thanks to all the users that informed us of this problem.
We’ve also made upgrades in recent weeks that are currently in place. According to our internal analytics, the changes have really sped up processing. Thanks everyone.
We just wanted to make something clear to our users. The algorithm being used for vloud processing is NOT a normalization process. The vloud algorithm was built from scratch to emulate one of the finest finalisation audio products we know of. One that many, many mastering engineers use on a daily basis. We also added some “special sauce” to make mixes cut through on inferior playback devices. So to wrap this up, this is not anything like MP3 gain or using some limiter in GarageBand, Audacity, etc. A lot more to come :)
If you need to increase the volume of an MP3 or WAV file and you’re either away from your regular suite of audio-tweaking software or don’t have one to begin with, webapp Vloud can help.
The web site is incredibly simple, with a single page and a very straightforward function. Upload an MP3 or WAV file, up to 10MB in size, and then select how much you’d like to increase the volume. There is no numerical scale, which might strike some users as entirely unscientific but the “light, loud, louder and loudest” designations get the job done. Selecting loudest will return an MP3 with a significant increase in the base sound level. If you need to adjust the volume on a large number of audio files, check out the leveling section of our guide to whipping your MP3 collection into shape.
Today we added a great new feature to the site, USERVOICE. We’ve been really grateful for the amnt of traffic and people that have banged away on vloud since its inception, less than a year ago. When we launched we weren’t exactly popular on the ‘pro-audio’ blogs and forums. There were a lot of concerns about the tool perpetuating the ‘loudness wars’. However we found our niche in a surprising place. Most surprising, we found that the operators of a tool can’t push the way in which its used. Vloud is simply a tool and we’ve been amazed with how creatively it’s been used. So, please, we invite you to send us your feedback via USERVOICE.
